Electricity I

ELECTRICITY I Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12; 1 Term, Ability = Average and Above

This course is designed for any student in grades 9 through 12 looking for experiences in electricity and electronics. This course will give students a chance to learn about the functions of electrical circuits and how they are designed through fun, hands-on experiments. Additionally, students will learn about soldering both copper wiring, and printed circuit boards which is useful for many applications including car stereo installation, and computer repair. One project that will use these soldering skills is the building of a functional FM radio. Finally, we will go over the basics of residential wiring which will be useful to students in the future as either a career opportunity, or basic knowledge that will help keep them safe when they are homeowners. Understanding how electricity works is a useful skill for all students, but will be especially useful to students interested in entering skilled trades including auto mechanics, construction, engineering, and more.
