FAMILY LIVING Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12; 1 Semester, Ability = All

If you are interested in topics related to human behavior, interpersonal relationships and family and teen issues, this course should interest you. The course provides an opportunity to develop personal skills such as communication, decision making, and value and goal identification, and two simple construction projects created in class. An overview of "family" is presented, covering family trends in the U.S. as well as activities related to family heritage. An in-depth marriage unit covers decision-making, customs, and wedding planning, as well as marital adjustments, separation, and divorce. Other topics that are covered include dating, teen or single parenting, stress, eating disorders, abuse, and dealing with death or loss. This course will provide background for those considering child and family related careers.
