Attention seniors…October 1st is the start of College Knowledge Month. A reminder to take advantage of the colleges that are not charging an application fee. A list of the colleges/universities and what dates they are free can be found at this link: http://www.ohe.state.mn.us/pdf/CKM_2017-18FreeAppOpportunities.pdf or a paper copy in the guidance office. Please let Sabine know if you need assistance in applying. Bemidji State and St. Cloud Technical and Community College are a few that are free all month and St. Cloud State University and Winona State University are a few that are free just the week of October 23-27th.
Attention Students grades 9-12: If you need a little time and help with your homework, the afterschool program will start up again on Tuesday, October 3. The afterschool program will run from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursdays. We will meet in Ms. Bauerly's Lab (Rm 309) at 3:00. You don’t need to sign up just drop in if you need extra help. See Ms. Lanners or Ms. Monroe if you have questions.
FHS will again offer an After School Credit Recovery Program for students who have failed course(s) required for graduation. The After School Credit Recovery Program will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. If you have failed a course and are interested in completing it in an after school program see Sabine in the Guidance Office for paperwork. There are a limited number of spots available so it is important to get the paperwork back ASAP. You must attend every Tuesday and Thursday or you will lose your spot. The program will start this Tuesday, October 3rd in Mrs. Bauerly’s Lab (Room 209) so get your signup forms in.
WANNABE BIGS - If you are a 10th or 11th grade student who plans to become a BIG Brother or BIG Sister this year, please work to complete and submit your application this week. Interviews will be conducted next week and those who have their paperwork completed will be matched as soon as possible. *Applications can be picked up in room 326 from Mrs. Koester.
SENIORS - Order your senior shirt and pay your dues during lunch periods this week. Please see your class officers Jacob Milejczak, Brooke McIver, Zoey Eastman, Liz Olson and Stephanie Ziwicki. The cost of the shirt is $15 and dues are $20.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY members will meet at 7:15 a.m. tomorrow morning in ROOM 326 - Please go to Koester's room!
BLOOD DRIVE - The Red Cross will be here on Wednesday to conduct a blood drive. Students who have signed up and are age 16 will need to bring their signed permission slip with them if they have not submitted it already to Mrs. Koester. Please bring your photo identification and donor card if you have one to the North FHS gym when you come to donate. Appointment cards will be attached to your lockers and available on Tuesday morning.
FFA members competing at the University of Minnesota contests on Tuesday are reminded that the bus will leave at 6:00 AM from in front of the school. The weather forecast shows a wet and cold morning so be sure to dress to work outdoors for all contests.
