Juniors & Seniors: East Central Energy (ECE) will send two students to Washington, D.C. for the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, June 9-14, 2018. This all-expense-paid trip helps students understand our government and its role in the history of rural electric cooperatives. Students visit the Capitol and meet their senators and representatives, tour our nation’s monuments and museums and meet other teens from around the country. You are able to complete the entire process electronically and return the materials by email. Please call Desiree at 1-800-254-7944, ext. 8031, or by email at email@example.com for an application or questions. Application packets must be completed and returned to ECE by February 12. Finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges, and the top two students will each receive the trip to Washington, D.C.
Students planning to study an agricultural-related area after high school - See Sabine in the Guidance Office for 5 - $1000 scholarships available from the Central Minnesota Farm Show Agriculture Scholarship. Deadline no later than February 2, 2018.
Students who drive to school - we want you and everyone around you to be safe in coming to and leaving school. Please consider making sure that your vehicle windows are scraped clean of frost or ice before leaving home or school, including your vehicle. Also allow more time to travel to and from school, to drive a bit slower, and to take an extra look before crossing an intersection.
Any junior interested in applying for the ExCEL award, please see Mr. Dahmen or Sandy in the Main Office. Applications are due by Dec. 7th. ExCEL - Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership - is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in high school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who volunteer in their communities. Nominees must:
a. be a junior in high school
b. make satisfactory progress toward graduation
c. participate in a MSHSL fine arts and/or athletic activity
d. hold a leadership position(s) in their school
e. work voluntarily in their community
Free ticket to the Timberwolves game and a free pizza to Papa John’s - Papa John’s and the Minnesota Timberwolves want to Congratulate you on your academic achievement. Receive a free ticket to Saturday, December 16th game along with a special gift and the opportunity to shoot a free throw on the court following the game. If you are a 10th -12th grader with GPA of 3.5 or higher or a 9th grader of an A average 1st semester, see Sabine in the Guidance Office for a registration form and more information.
ATTN: SENIORS: CENTRAL MINNESOTA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPSAnother good source of scholarship information is the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. They have an extensive list of scholarships available to students in the Central Minnesota area. Not all these scholarships are available to Foley students but many are. You are able to refine your list by high school. At this time the CMCF lists the following scholarships for Foley High School. Go to www.communitygiving.org Click scholarships, then click apply for scholarships and select Foley High School on the school search.
