Foley has strong agricultural roots and a thriving FFA program that hosted their annual “Ag Day” for FES students today. Our little Falcons had the opportunity to learn about agriculture, equipment, animals, and planting seeds to learn where food comes from. Ag Day helps connect our young students to the important role agriculture plays in our community and everyday lives.
A huge thank you to our FFA program, volunteers, and community supporters for making this educational and fun-filled day possible!

FES Music Teacher, Heidi Runyon, shared some very uplifting news with us!
--------------------
I'd like to share some good news. Many of you know I've been struggling with stage IV melanoma cancer. I've been through 2 years of immunotherapy treatments, surgeries, scans and many doctor appointments. But, Thursday, March 26th, I rang the bell and marked the end of infusions. I am at No Evidence of Disease and hope to stay that way. I want to thank the school community of students and staff and the greater Foley community for their support throughout this journey. My family (Charles, Ellis, Inga and myself) is forever grateful.☺️🎶💙

The Minnesota School Nutrition Association recognizes members 6 months out of the year. Our very own Diana Gorecki, cook at Foley High School, was chosen as the February Spotlight! We are so grateful to have you on staff, Diana, and appreciate everything you do to serve up delicious lunches for our staff and students.
Here is Diana's Q&A from MSNA:
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?
People don’t realize how good school lunches have become.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
I absolutely love my job and look forward every day to being able to make homemade meals from scratch and see staff and students come through the line with smiles on their faces, truly
appreciating what we make for them. Best job in the world!
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘂?
We have expanded our scratch cooking to include items like spaghetti sauce, chili, homemade sloppy joes, and chicken fajita wraps.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘂? 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆?
There are so many favorite meals I have, but my absolute favorites are the homemade soups we make from scratch. Chicken noodle, bacon cheeseburger, tomato dumpling, and tomato basil — they are so satisfying!
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆?
I love the opportunity to mentor our kitchen assistants when they step in to sub and help me cook. I encourage them to one day take on the challenge of becoming a cook themselves.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

Through programming and partnerships with top colleges, graduate schools, and leading companies, QuestBridge helps its Scholars realize their full potential at every stage of life.

Congratulations to Foley's Alternative Learning Center teacher, Steven Drake, for being nominated as the 96.7 The River's Teacher of the Month!
Mr. Drake was nominated by coworker, Cari Niss, who had this to say about him:
"The kids that attend the ALC say that Mr. Drake is very understanding, trusting and always there for them. He earns the kids' respect and many come back after they graduate to let him know how and what they are doing.
I transport the students in the van from the High School to the ALC during the school day and I see the respect that the kids have for Mr. Drake. He does his best to make sure that the kids stay caught up so that they can graduate on time.
I feel that the ALC teachers often get overlooked but may be doing the hardest job. Steve definitely deserves to be nominated for Teacher of the Month.”

Resource Training & Solutions hosts an annual Educational Support Staff Recognition Event (ESS) each fall for their member school districts. This ceremony recognizes and celebrates the contributions of the Educational Support Staff including: bus drivers, food service, paraprofessionals, hall monitors, custodians, office administrative assistants, coaches (who are not certified teachers), or other positions within their region's school districts. Over 100 Educational Support Staff are honored each year.
Congratulations to this year's Foley Public School recipients:

A quick lesson on school bus stop arm cameras:
A school bus stop-arm camera is an automated system designed to catch drivers who illegally pass a stopped school bus. These systems use high-resolution cameras, often with infrared illumination for night use, to photograph vehicles that pass while the stop arm is extended and lights are flashing. The captured evidence, which includes video clips, license plate images, and other data, is wirelessly sent to a secure platform for review by law enforcement, who can then issue a citation to the vehicle's registered owner.
This technology is designed to keep our school bus passengers safe.
**Check out the clarity on one of our Foley School Bus stop arm cameras! They are equipped on all of our buses with the grant money we received from the State of MN.

Resource Training & Solutions hosts an annual Leadership in Educational Excellence Banquet and Award Ceremony (LEEA) each fall. This ceremony recognizes outstanding educational leaders from member school districts.

October is National Principals Month, and here at Foley Public Schools we have some of the best! We'd like to recognize and celebrate the essential role these three play in our K-12 schools. Their hard work and dedication is a huge contribution to the success of our students. Be sure to give them a high five when you see them!

Today we celebrate our coaches. We honor the vital role they play in inspiring and developing athletes beyond sports. They teach essential life skills like teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, and communication, which all contributes to a more fulfilling life.
------------------------------------------------
From Eric Inglis, Activities Director:
"A good coach can change a game, a great coach can change a life. I am so thankful for all of the great coaches we have here at Foley Public Schools. Your dedication and passion for what you do is inspiring. What a tremendous honor it is to work with all of you every single day."

Let's hear it for our custodians at Foley Public Schools! They deserve to be acknowledged every day for their tireless work in keeping our schools clean and safe, but this day is especially for them. Their efforts can often go unseen, as there is a lot of back end work to keep our facility well-maintained and running smoothly.
Director of Buildings and Grounds, Paul Jacobs, honored his staff with an appreciation lunch from Blue Ribbon Cafe yesterday.
You are all an integral part of our team, and we are grateful to have you. Wishing you all a joyful and fulfilling Custodial Appreciation Day!

Last night, Falcon Volleyball partnered with the INDY Foundation and Alliance Imaging to present this years "Think Pink for INDY" night. It was extra special because one of our longtime custodians, Bob Abfalter, was honored as INDY's Cancer Warrior and was gifted a monetary donation. Bob was unexpectedly diagnosed in April and has fought hard to get to where he is at. Bob is doing well and loves spending as much time as he can with his family including watching his granddaughter, Ella Tangen, on the volleyball court.
All proceeds from last night's 50/50 raffle was donated to the INDY Foundation, a non profit dedicated to supporting Minnesota Warriors during their cancer battles.
