FHS DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

          Welcome Back Students!!

Early Dismissals:  Starting on Friday, January 22nd, we will have an early dismissal the last school day of each week.  The school day for FHS students will end at 12:10 p.m. and students riding school transportation will load buses at that time.  The bell schedule for early dismissals is here.  We will have an opportunity for students to receive academic support in completing coursework on each of these early dismissal days from 12:10-2:50 p.m.  Students that are in school on these days may remain in school (but need to arrange their own transportation home at 2:50 p.m.) and all students can access virtual support through a Google Meet with an Educational Assistant.  To sign up for this option on January 22, please fill out this form.

 

The After School Program has started. We will be available to help students online and in-person Mondays-Thursday from 3:00-4:15pm. Students who are in school on those days will come to the media center to work. Students who are at home can access the Google Meet link through our Google Classroom. If you need to be added to Classroom, please email Sabine at slefebvre@apps.isd51.org.

 

Seniors: If you or your parents have service with Benton Communications, they have 3 scholarship opportunities. 

Benton Communications Scholarship 1: It is our pleasure to offer this national scholarship program. Should a student from our service area be selected to receive one of the scholarships ($2,000 each), we will contribute an additional $500 to the scholarship, bringing the total one-time scholarship award to $2,500. Students may also be eligible for the following named scholarships; Staurulakis Family Scholarships, TMS Scholarships, Everett Kneece Scholarship, Roger Alan Cox Memorial Scholarships, Good Neighbor Scholarship and Herbert and Isabel Bitz Memorial Scholarship. *Submitting one application is sufficient for eligibility of all available scholarships. Visit www.FRS.org/student for application and full instructions on how to create an account and for all necessary materials required. Competed applications should be submitted directly to FRS via online application process, no later than March 5, 2021. 

Benton Communications Scholarship 2: Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation scholarship program. Six $2,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to 2021 Minnesota graduating high school seniors. To be eligible, applicants must be attending post secondary education at either a university, college, or technical college, be a Minnesota resident, and the applicant's family must subscribe to at least one service from Benton Communications. One $2,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a 2021 Minnesota graduating high school seniors. To be eligible, applicants must be majoring in either Telecommunications or Information Technology (IT) at a university, college, or technical college and be a Minnesota resident. Benton Communications, along with other local telephone companies throughout Minnesota, is approaching high schools in its serving area looking for potential scholarship winners. A telecom alliance panel will review the applications and select the scholarship recipients based on applicants' grades, academic achievements and extra-curricular activities. Preference to receive the scholarships is given to students who have an interest in information or telecommunications technology and rural communities. MTA Scholarship applications can be obtained online at: https://www.mnta.org/resource/resmgr/forms/MTA-Scholarship-Form-2021.pdf. Once a student has completed the application online, they need to print a copy and attach the required documentation. A checklist can be found at the end of the online application to aid the students in ensuring their application is complete. Applications must be submitted to Benton Communications by February 19, 2021. Students may send the properly completed applications to Benton Communications, Attn: Cheryl Scapanski/MTA Scholarship Application, 2220 125th Street NW, Rice, MN, 56367-9701. 

Benton Communications Scholarship 3: Benton Communications is pleased to announce that we will be issuing four - $750.00 scholarships to seniors of the graduating class of 2021, whose parents or legal guardians have communications service with Benton Communications. To apply for a scholarship, the senior will need to meet the following criteria

Parents or legal guardians have telephone service with Benton Telephone 

 Grade point average must be at least 2.5 (transcript needs to be included) 

Short essay of 50 - 100 words of their career plans Include a graduation picture (for publication purposes if they are the recipient of the scholarship). Please fill out the attached application DEADLINE: March 31, 2021.

 

There will be a Prom Committee meeting Thursday morning at 7:30 AM.  The meeting will take place in Mrs. Score's classroom to allow for distancing.  

 

Juniors and Seniors: If you have not yet filled out the Prom Survey that was sent to you last week, please do so soon. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, January 22.

Seniors: You and your parents received an email on Tuesday to fill out information for Diploma Name Spelling & Gown Measurement Survey:. Please complete by January 29, 2021. It will take a few minutes. Please contact Sabine in the Guidance Office if you have any questions.

- at lunch, 3 students per long table, 2 per round table

- at lunch, please sit on marked spots only, and do not move marked spots

- in the hallways, please follow the directional arrows

- do your best to keep your social distance

- masks are required

- hats are not allowed

The 2021 scholarship program is now open for application on our St. Cloud Chamber website. 

Students can visit the URL below to see:

  • a PDF of the scholarships available to their high school;

  • the outlines and requirements of each scholarship being offered in 2021;

  • and they can apply online.

NOTE: Please do not apply for the Coborn’s scholarship. The Coborn’s scholarship will be in the Local Scholarship Packet.  Applications are due by Friday, April 2.
