Varsity Choir
VARSITY CHOIR Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12; 2 Semesters, 2 credits per year
The Varsity Choir is for un-auditioned male and female singers in grades 9-12. This ensemble will focus on building vocal skills
and musical knowledge. The Varsity Choir will learn music by various composers from different stylistic periods. In addition,
this ensemble will work to achieve proper tone production and exceptional choral blend, and will explore music’s unique
properties through the music we sing. The Varsity Choir will perform 3 concerts per year and possibly compete in the Sub-
Section Large Group Vocal Contest. In addition to large group performances, students will have the option of preparing a solo
or ensemble selection. The Varsity Choir meets daily during regular school hours.
Concert Choir
CONCERT CHOIR Grades: 10, 11, 12; 2 Semesters, 2 credits per year
The Concert Choir is for both female and male advanced singers in grades 10-12. Previous choral experience is
recommended. The Concert Choir will learn music of all periods and styles, refine tone production and blend, and explore music’s properties. A further focus on artistry and musicianship will be added. The Concert Choir will perform 3 concerts per year and compete in the Sub-Section Large Group Vocal Contest. In addition to large group performances, students will have the option of preparing a solo or ensemble selection. The Concert Choir meets daily during regular school hours. Concert Choir members will also be required to attend one individual or group voice lesson each quarter outside of the Concert Choir class period.
