FHS Daily Announcements - Thursday, September 14th

-FHS office will be closing at 3:45 today

-Student Council officers please report to Mr. Johnson's room during flex today.  Student Council members, please watch the Classroom page for survey and volunteer opportunities for Homecoming Activities.

-Attention All 10th Grade Students: On Tuesday, November 28th, Ms. Gross is taking the first 50 students that sign up to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis to see A Christmas Carol. The cost is $28.00 per ticket. We'll be leaving 1st hour and will be back around 2:30.  Pick up permission slips and drop off signed permission slips and money to Ms. Gross in Room 305 by Wednesday, September 20th. 

-Attention 11th grade students who are very strong test takers:

The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is an optional exam for 11^th grade students who test exceptionally well.  Any junior who feels he/she can score in the top ½ of 1% on the PSAT should take the test.  Taking the PSAT and scoring in the top ½ of 1% is the ONLY way to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship.  If you are interested in taking the test, it will be given at Foley High School on Tuesday, October 10^th   from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The registration deadline is Tuesday, October 3rd. A $18.00 fee will be required when you register in the Guidance Office.  Please check in with Mr. Dahlstrom or Ms. McIntire with questions.

-Any student 9th-12th grade that is interested in being a part of the Unified Club can come to a meeting on Wednesday September 20th during Flex time. The meeting will take place in the wrestling room.  See Ms.Piepgras or Mr.Crowell with any questions.

-For 11th or 12th graders with a GPA of 3.2 or higher, interested in joining Minnesota Honor Society, there will be an informational meeting during Flex next Thursday Sept 21 in Ms. Pelowski's Classroom. Mark your calendars. Please attend the meeting to learn more about MHS, specific requirements, as well as to get an application to apply to MHS. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Gross or Ms. Pelowski 

-Tackle Cancer shirts are in and can be picked up in the HS Office.  If you missed out on the pre-order, there are a limited number of shirts available for purchase.  Cost is $15.00.  

-Just a reminder that any student taking Intro to Art, Ceramics, Drawing, Beginning Woods, Welding or Electricity will have class fees due.  Those can be paid online through your Infinite Campus portal or in the High School Office.  Please do not wait until the end of the trimester to pay your fees! 

-The After School Credit Recovery Program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00pm in Room 335 (Foods Lab) starting on Sept. 19th. This program is for students who have failed a course or standard required for graduation. If you have failed a course and are interested in completing it in the After School Program, see Kristi in the Guidance Office.  There are a limited number of spots available and forms are due by September 26th so it is important to get the paperwork back ASAP. 

-The After School Homework Support Program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00pm in Room 335 (Foods Lab) starting on Sept. 19th. This program is for students who need extra help and support on current homework. Students can pick up a parent permission form from Kristi in the Guidance Office and can enroll at any time.
